The Nocturne Collection was inspired by the moving landscape, in particular from trains. Made from spliced stips of ink & acrylic painting composed into a night landscape.
Nocturne 4 was intended to be spliced vertically in the spirit of a bamboo forest. Gillies took much delight in seeing the bamboo in Japan during winter 2015. You can read about that here.
