June 29th, 2014 – House For A Art Lover

So my first day off facebook, I’m dying to know what Game Of Thrones character I am, or what city I should be living in… but I struggled through the early part of the day and decided on a walk along to Bellahouston Park & the House For An Art Lover to find locations to take some promo shots for my new Print Box.

It was nice and sunny but not baking hot so the light was not too harsh. I was looking for foresty type setting, maybe a tree stump and some low branches and leafs. I figured on either doing it in a really modern clean apartment (not mine that’s for sure) or go total nature vibe which I think would be more suited with the art itself.

So here is the produce of the day…..

The sunken garden made a great location for shots, it would actually make a great location for a play or a video. The square sculptures are brilliant. The last time I was up there I read what one of the ‘boxes’ was engraved with.

“Think of yourself as on the threshold of unparalleled success. A whole, clear, glorious life lies before you. Achieve! Achieve!”

by Andrew Carnegie. I rather like that. So after the garden I took a walk down to The House For An Art Lover. There are some really cool sculptures in the grounds there. I’m not an overly big fan of the house itself but it worked for what I wanted to do. If I ever get to build there will be MASSIVE windows. Lots of them.

The more time I spend with the box the more I love it. I was having veering levels of excitement and fear on whether this was a great idea or a totally crazy one. Abandoning all other print formats and options to have just one.. genius or mental? Today I was feeling genius.

When I laid all the prints out it was really cool to see the full scale of the idea, and over the next 2 yrs as I produce the next sets this box will eventually contain around 70 prints. I think thats really cool. Not like really cool, mega cool. It combines everything I like about art books, postcards and even touches on the reason vinyl lp’s are so enjoyable. Yep I am sold on this one.

You had me worried you’d left Facebook completely but glad you still have your business page. Yes I am a Facebook addict *runs off to try another stupid quiz*.
Loving this new Print Box and hope it works well for you. Sadly well out of my price range but a fantastic idea.

Hi Mel, yeah I am taking a break from the personal side of it and I suspect within a few weeks I wont actually miss it. The business page has become crushingly depressing with the limited post reach, but I’m not going to worry about it anymore. I’ll still post but I think if any online efforts are to be pursued it will be on this blog mostly. At least the images get logged with google well, and people find the blog, unlike the unseen facebook pit of promotion or no-motion. Thanks for sticking around 🙂

Sadly Pete you are kinda stuck with me 🙂
I know the feeling about the business page….the people who mostly comment or fave are my best friends. I’m elsewhere online so though it was depressing I’m not too bothered either. I’m lucky to get seen on google through my brother’s website. Glad I’m signed up for the blog just incase you leave FB completely.
